A vast majority of The Last of Us fans probably have September 26 circled on their calendars. "Outbreak Day", as it is known, is usually when Naughty Dog reveals more The Last of Us news. It's also a date that originates from the original The Last of Us game, which is when the Cordyceps infection first spread across the globe. Although most didn't expect anything big for this year's Outbreak Day after The Last of Us Part 1 came out in August.

So, it only makes sense that the folks over at HBO and Naughty Dog collaborated for this momentous day with our first-ever look at the upcoming live-action adaptation of what a lot of people think of as a narrative masterpiece.

As teased in earlier leaked footage, HBO's The Last of Us looks and feels like HBO pulled it out of the source material. Everything from the chaotic opening sequence to that one fan-favorite scene from the Left Behind DLC should feel familiar to fans of the award-winning franchise. Words just aren't enough to give HBO's hard work justice. The show's world is authentic to the point of surreal - it's hard to imagine that a live-action adaptation can nail details down to a T like this.
