DC Studios has released the final trailer for the highly-anticipated superhero film, The Flash, ahead of its theatrical release on June 16.
The trailer opens with Allen trying to convince DCEU's Bruce Wayne/Batman, portrayed by Ben Affleck, that he could "fix things" by time-traveling to the past and changing a few events. Wayne, always the smart one and voice of reason, tries to dissuade him and warns him of the potential consequences of such an action.
Allen proves headstrong, though. He proceeds with his plans and successfully messes up the timeline. He finds himself in a different reality marked for destruction by – surprise – General Zod, who first appeared in Man of Steel. While there have been other The Flash trailers, this is the first one to show that the character will appear in the forthcoming film.
To conquer Zod, who he presumably can't defeat by himself, Allen teams up with the new reality's version of himself, its Batman, and Clark Kent's cousin, Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.
The film's official logline details it all. It reads, "Worlds collide in "The Flash" when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to."
