Whatever shape the Final one is, it's probably gonna be a smooth one with all the polishing Bungie still needs to do. It seems like Bungie's been playing a little too much with the time-travel aspect of Destiny 2 because its next big expansion, The Final Shape, is officially taking a detour through time - to June 4, 2024, to be exact.
Originally set for a grand entrance on February 27 next year, The Final Shape was poised to wrap up the epic Light and Darkness saga that's kept us on our toes for, what, a decade now? Yep, you're old! In true Destiny fashion, the unexpected is always expected, and Bungie has finally confirmed the long-rumored delay (this comes on the back of recent layoffs in the company).
The Light and Darkness saga is a long-running narrative arc that forms the core of the game's lore and storytelling. It revolves around the conflict between the forces of Light, embodied by the Guardians (the player characters), and the forces of Darkness, represented by various alien races and entities.
Central to the saga is the Traveler, a mysterious, celestial snowball that hovers above Earth's last safe city, making sunbathing practically impossible. The Traveler is the source of the Guardians' powers, known as the Light. It is this Light that gives the Guardians their abilities and resurrects them as immortal defenders of humanity.
