Targaryens are known for two things: love of dragons and incest. And, oh, they appear to have an affinity for bleach.

Kidding aside, the Targaryen civil war plays a key role in George R.R. Martin's 2018 novel, Fire & Blood, which serves as the source material for House of the Dragon. After the Game of Thrones spin-off got a trailer earlier this year, the latest footage features new scenes and a closer look at the central conflict that will define the show.

Have a look at the trailer below:

The previous trailer ended with the ominous warning, "History does not remember blood. It remembers names." This one opens up with a similarly menacing phrase: "War is afoot."

House of the Dragon will premiere on August 21 on HBO and HBO Max and will serve as a prequel to Game of Thrones with its events having a significant impact on the War of the Seven Kings even though it is set hundreds of years in the past. As already mentioned, the prequel will explore the civil war between the competing heirs in House Targaryen.
