Take-Two might have just confirmed the remasters of Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4

According to the earnings call, Take-Two's roadmap includes 16 titles scheduled for release this fiscal year. We've known for a while about the others like LEGO 2K Drive and Piccolo Studio's After Us, but the details about the others remain unclear.

Because of this purposeful ambiguity, many believe that Take-Two has given the green light to Rockstar for remasters of arguably two of its most iconic titles from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era.

Red Dead Redemption, in particular, has been dying for a remaster for what feels like forever. The original game never came out on the PC nor the PS4 and Xbox One, let alone the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, leaving fans wanting for a re-release. As previously noted, the game was recently re-rated in South Korea, which doesn't happen unless something big is coming.

Now, while Red Dead Redemption's remaster is almost a given at this point, what's most interesting is the second "new iteration" of a previously-released title that Take-Two plans to release. Considering reports suggesting that the pair of Max Payne remakes are years away, there's a great deal of intrigue surrounding what Take-Two might have up their sleeves.

In an ideal world, we'll get a "Complete Edition" of Red Dead Redemption that bundles both games of the series, complete with updated visuals and support for higher frame rates, among others, for current-gen consoles. This concept has been a long-standing wish for many gamers, who yearn for a single package that allows them to experience the full breadth of this Western epic in one playthrough.

Just imagine the immersive richness of John Marston's tale, from Red Dead Redemption 2's main story through to John's prologue, smoothly transitioning into the narrative of Red Dead Redemption.

Another possibility that is under consideration among fans is a remaster of Grand Theft Auto IV. Despite the game's revered status in the GTA franchise, the PC version leaves much to be desired, even on modern hardware. The hope for an overhaul of this iconic title is apparent, with a remaster promising to alleviate these performance issues and deliver a much better experience.

However, amid the speculation, it's worth reminding ourselves that the statement originated from Take-Two, not Rockstar. While it's tempting to connect the dots to Rockstar's stable of games, it's also plausible that these re-releases could come from other studios under Take-Two's banner.

Whether it's Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto, or perhaps another title, Take-Two Interactive has certainly given the gaming community plenty of fuel for speculation.

Here's hoping that, as we await official announcements and potential surprises from Take-Two in the coming months, the company's plans for the 2024 Fiscal year will live up to the mounting expectations and deliver a gaming experience of epic proportions.
