Sylvester Stallone may not return for Tulsa King Season 2

Terence Winter, who serves as showrunner, made certain remarks about Stallone's performance. The producer stated that Stallone's role is a version of his real-life personality that few people see. He explained that Manfredi's personality is based on Stallone's real life persona and he is finally getting to show people his true self.

Stallone's statements mirror Winter's beliefs. The veteran actor stated that the series allowed him to show that he is more than an impaired, monosyllabic, or dangerous person and stated that his role as Manfredi is who he truly is minus the gangster.

Stallone is not a stranger to television. In the 1970s, he starred in Police Story and Kojak. More recently, he starred in the NBC American family drama television series This is Us. However, he has never headlined a show before as his experience usually involved appearing as a guest star.

Besides, television is not what it used to be. While the small screen used to be considered an inferior form of entertainment to feature films, things have changed and television series are now seen as, at the very least, peers with feature films. As a result, they are more demanding than they have ever been. Hence, Stallone's grueling experience working on one.

Nevertheless, Stallone is without a doubt one of the most iconic actors of all time. He has cemented his place in Hollywood history with classics like Rambo and the Rocky series. And despite the fact he is 76 years, he has no intention to quit. The ace actor continues to entertain fans with awesome movies like Creed, The Suicide Squad, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Stallone is the recipient of numerous awards for his work, including the Golden Globe Awards, People's Choice Awards, and Critics' Choice Awards.

Tulsa King is a crime drama series created by Taylor Sheridan. In the series, Stallone plays the lead character Dwight "The General" Manfredi, a Mafia capo from New York who has spent the last 25 years in prison. Following his release, he is banished to the town of Tulsa, Oklahoma by his boss to expand their organization. However, he realizes his crime family doesn't necessarily care for him and starts building his own crew with the goal is becoming the top man in Tulsa.

The film, which was released a little over a week ago, has received mostly positive ratings, including a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 76% and an IMDb rating of 8.4 out of a possible 10. However, Paramount+ hasn't renewed it for another season. As a result, there is a possibility Stallone might never have to make the hard decision to reprise his role.

Apart from Stallone, the film's cast includes Max Casella, Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Piazza, Jay Will, A.C. Peterson, Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, and Garrett Hedlund who star as Armand Truisi, Don Charles Chickie Invernizzi, Vince Antonacci, Tyson, Pete The Rock Invernizzi, Stacy Beale, Lawrence Bohdi Geigerman, and Mitch Keller respectively.

By the way, the fourth installment of Stallone's The Expendables is currently in post-production. The film is expected to hit cinemas sometime in 2023. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 where Stallone reprises his role as Stakar Ogoord is also slated for a 2023 release although the exact date is unknown.

In other news, the prequel series to Denis Villeneuve's 2021 film Dune has begun filming. Also, Creed 3, the third installment of the Michael B Jordan-led spinoff of Stallone's Rocky, recently released its first trailer. The film is set to hit cinemas in March 2023.

Tulsa King debuted on Paramount+ on November 13 with new episodes dropping every Sunday. Also, Stallone has another project that was released in 2022. The film, titled Samaritan sees him act as an aging, retired superhero. It is currently available on Amazon Prime Video.
