It appears that the judges preceding over at the 2024 Golden Globes wasn't as high on The Last of Us as most expected, as the live-action adaptation of the best-selling Naughty Dog title walked away empty-handed from the said event.
Most expected The Last of Us to bag at least one award at the Golden Globes after receiving several awards nominations and winning 8 Creative Arts Emmys previously. Unfortunately, Succession was there to halt its momentum. The similarly critically acclaimed comedy-drama series secured top prizes in nearly every category it was nominated in, winning a total of 4 awards.
The series' leads, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, was in attendance at the Beverly Hilton after being nominated for Best Leading Actor and Address.
Overall, HBO was the bigger winner at the 81st Golden Globe Awards with two of its best shows fighting for supremacy. Succession, in particular, went out with a bang last year. The award-winning series stars Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, and Sarah Snook in a four-season show that revolves around a fictional media empire and who ultimately ends up taking up the helm, hence, the name.
Both The Last of Us and Succession are among the most popular shows on cable TV and streaming platforms as well as, unfortunately, on pirating channels.
