Stray will finally wander into the Xbox on August 10

One of last year's biggest surprises is finally headed to an all-new platform in two months after a year of exclusivity on the PlayStation.

Stray's arrival on the Xbox is a good sign for the Game Pass with it preceding the likes of Starfield and Forza Motorsport.

Get ready to stretch your paws and prepare for a feline frenzy as one of last year’s most critically acclaimed video games, Stray, makes its way to the Xbox platform on August 10.

Stray, initially launched as a PC / PlayStation timed exclusive last July, charmed players around the globe with its unique, cat-centric gameplay and thought-provoking narrative.

Developed by Blue Twelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, Stray was revealed in 2020 and quickly became a fan-favourite. Upon its release, it lived up to the anticipation, becoming one of the top-rated games on Steam, and drawing an impressive peak of over 62,000 concurrent players.

This meow-velous adventure puts players in control of an adorable stray cat who finds itself stranded in a cyberpunk, post-human metropolis. Falling into a walled city, our feline protagonist must navigate through complex environmental puzzles and interact with robotic residents to make its way back to the surface. The captivating journey doesn’t end there though, as players are prompted to consider the game’s poignant story long after the end credits have rolled.

The magic of Stray lies in its ability to authentically capture the essence of our feline friends, from their mischievous antics to their endearing idiosyncrasies. Features such as a dedicated button for meowing, and the ability to nap almost anywhere, have been widely praised by players for the game’s true-to-life depiction of cat behavior. Whether you’re typing gibberish on a keyboard or knocking things off tables, every moment of gameplay is a testament to Stray’s attention to detail and charming realism.

It’s not just the players who have been smitten by Stray’s charms; the game has also received critical acclaim. Its innovative gameplay earned it the ‘Most Innovative Gameplay’ award at the Steam Awards. At The Game Awards, it was recognized as the Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game. Additionally, it took home the Best Debut award at the Game Developers Choice Awards and PlayStation Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards.

Stray is part of an ongoing trend of indie titles punching well above their weight.

Stray’s arrival on Xbox has been eagerly awaited by fans, especially since the ESRB rating for an unannounced Xbox version of the game was spotted back in May.

While the gameplay experience will be identical to its previous renditions on PlayStation and PC, the Xbox release was announced with an endearing trailer featuring the game’s feline protagonist knocking an Xbox controller off a table, much to the chagrin of its hapless owner.

So, cat lovers and gaming enthusiasts, mark your calendars for August 10th, because Stray is coming to Xbox, and it’s set to bring along all the charm, mystery, and feline mischief that has endeared it to players around the world.
