Steam accepts refunds for The Last of Us Part 1

Players have been review bombing The Last of Us Part 1 on Steam after it launched with performance issues and glitches. There has also been reports of players unable to launch the game while, others endured two-hour wait times for the game to build shaders.

Gamers who were fortunate enough to play the PC version reported frequent crashes, high VRAM usage, unstable frame rates, and delayed audio. The game has also not been certified for the Steam Deck which has disappointed some gamers.

It is no surprise that players have opted for refunds after the game-breaking issues. Naughty Dog has acknowledged the glitches and technical issues with the PC port of The Last of Us. The studio has already deployed small hotfixes for the game, but it has not addressed a majority of concerns.

Hopefully, Naughty Dog will take charge of fixing The Last of Us Part 1. If there is anything that we have learned from the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and Battlefield 2042, the community will acknowledge the efforts of game developers when they work on fixing technical issues.

The success of The Last of Us TV series on HBO may have contributed to the hype surrounding the PC port of the game. Naughty Dog delayed the release of the game by three weeks which many saw as an effort to get the PC port right. Unfortunately, the delay may not have been enough due to the recent development. But, hey, at least fans got a pseudo-FPS mode out of The Last of Us Part 1 on the PC.
