As the review embargo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth finally lifts, the sequel's creative director, Testuya Nomura, has taken to social media to ask fans to avoid spoiling the sequel "so as not to affect the experience of those who have yet to play the game."
This request comes just as spoilers for FF7 Rebirth have found their way online. While most have been unverified so far, it's only a matter of time before one reviewer or content creator slips up, perhaps on accident or on purpose.
For what it's worth, even if the story does leak online ahead of its release on February 29, Square Enix can rest easy knowing that it made an excellent game that could very well go down as a GOTY contender in December.
As it stands, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth holds a "93" score on Metacritic. It's now officially a universally acclaimed title, but the score can still go lower or higher depending on how subsequent reviewers will score it. But as most have had roughly two weeks to play the sequel already, most of the reviews for FF7 Rebirth are already out.
With that said, Final Fantasy fans are taking extreme measures to avoid spoilers, even going on a social media blackout until the game becomes available to play.
