Spider-Man 4 Faces Delays Amid Hollywood Strikes

The fourth Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic universe may arrive much later than previously expected.

Spider-Man 4 will see the return of Tom Holland and Zendaya.

The ongoing Hollywood strikes have cast a shadow over Marvel’s meticulously planned movie schedules. Recent rumors hint at potential turbulence, including the possibility of Spider-Man 4 facing a delay in its journey to theaters.

Marvel Insider Daniel Richtman recently shared on Patreon that Spider-Man 4 is targeting a late 2024 production start. Richtman also said that Tom Holland, Zendaya, and director Jon Watts are set to return for the fourth installment. There have been reports that Holland signed on for another three projects as the web-slinger. The actor also previously announced that he is taking a break from acting after one of his recent projects.

The fourth ‘SPIDER-MAN’ film in the MCU is eyeing a late 2024 production start,” the tweet reads. As previously reported, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jon Watts are all expected to return.

We previously reported that there have been rumors that Marvel is planning to fast-track the production of additional unannounced projects for the Multiverse Saga including Spider-Man 4 and Doctor Strange 3. There have also been reports that Sony plans to release two more Marvel movies within the Multiverse Saga which many expect to be Spider-Man 4 and Venom 3. Even without official confirmation, it looks like Spider-Man 4 will be part of the Multiverse Saga.

The plot for Spider-Man 4 has not yet been revealed but rumors are suggesting that it may be linked to the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again which stars Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. Spider-Man shared some screen time with Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Murdock offering his services as a lawyer to Peter Parker.

Teaming up with Daredevil may mean that Spider-Man will return as a street-level superhero after Doctor Strange wiped everyone’s memory of his identity. Being a street-level crime fighter means that he will eventually run into the criminal organization run by Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. We know that Kingpin is alive in the MCU after being seen in the new trailer for Echo was shown in D23.

Rumors suggest that Spider-Man 4 may be a sequel to Daredevil: Born Again.

If the rumors about the plot of Spider-Man 4 being connected to the upcoming Daredevil series are true, then it would mean that Spider-Man will likely come out in late 2025. Disney+ is reportedly targeting an early to mid-year release for Daredevil: Born Again, so we may see Spider-Man 4 arrive a few months later. If Daredevil comes out in early 2025, the previous reports that Sony plans to release a big blockbuster in July 2025 may be true.

It is also an interesting choice for Marvel to link the plot to one of its blockbuster films to a Disney+ series. We have seen Disney+ TV shows serve as follow-ups for Marvel movies but not the other way around. Marvel did have Kang the Conqueror appear first in Loki before appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, Ant-Man 3’s Kang is a separate variant of Loki’s He Who Remains and the plots are not intertwined.

Once again, we still do not know if these rumors are true as Marvel has not yet officially confirmed Spider-Man 4. So, please take the information you read here with a grain of salt.
