Joining a long line of huge, successful corporations absolutely betraying their employees while posting record profits and paying out insane executive bonuses,Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company behind the PlayStation brand, has announced a massive workforce reduction of 900 employees across its first-party studios.

It's no secret that the Sony Playstation 5 saw a decline and will not be releasing major first-party titles until 2025. It seems the situation is bad enough to lead to be used as an excuse for major workforce cuts.

The move comes amid ongoing industry layoffs and financial challenges within the gaming sector. The company revealed this decision in an official statement, acknowledging the closure of its renowned London Studio. The details of the layoffs were first posted on the official Sony Interactive Entertainment blog and shared on social media such as X (formerly Twitter).

Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, disclosed that approximately 900 employees, constituting 8% of the workforce, will be affected by the layoffs. The impact extends to various first-party studios, including Insomniac Games, Guerrilla Games, Naughty Dog, and Firesprite.
