The next Sony State of Play isn’t confirmed yet, but it could be right around the corner based on several details that have emerged lately.
Since Sony started the series of showcases in 2019, it has used State of Play to reveal everything from Ghost of Tsushima to God of War: Ragnarok and so much more. With the PS5’s upcoming lineup looking pretty thin, especially following Xbox’s own showcase – and the fact that Sony usually holds a State of Play in February or March – it’s high time Sony responds. But, aside from the usual speculative work, other rumors hint at an incoming State of Play.
For starters, billbil-kun recently revealed that Sony has been working on an Until Dawn re-release for PlayStation 5 and PC for over a year and it will reveal details of this game soon. In addition to this, the same source is claiming that more Death Stranding 2 news is coming in the next two weeks. Thus, this makes it more likely that the next State of Play is coming on January 31 or February 7.
The latest State of Play gave audiences the official release date of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth with new content for exclusive titles, Foamstars and Helldivers 2, which are coming out on February 6 and February 8, respectively.
With FF7 Rebirth coming out on February 29 and Rise of the Ronin following suit on March 22, Sony should take this as an opportunity to get fans excited for what’s coming to PlayStation 5 in Spring 2024.

Sony’s State of Play, Nintendo’s Direct, and Xbox’s Developer Direct, are the current reigning trio of digital video game showcases. With E3 no longer, players look forward to these events to find out more about upcoming games along with Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest and The Game Awards.
Sony was recently at CES 2024 to reveal new face plates for the PlayStation 5 Slim.
