Sony has announced a wave of new features for the PlayStation 5 as part of the latest system software update to arrive on the console. The new features will enhance gamers' experience of the platform as it provides improved accessibility, new audio options, and a new and improved method of communicating with fellow gamers.
The update came at the best time possible time with the recent expansion of the PlayStation Plus catalog, the unveiling of Deep Earth Collection covers, and the news thatRoblox will launch on the console next month.
The PS5 update arrived on Wednesday barely a month after Sony began testing the changes in beta. Along the update, Sony also expanded support for PS Remote Play, which will allow users to stream games from their PlayStation consoles to more devices than ever before. Additionally, it adds support for Dolby Atmos HDMI devices. This new feature comes in the form of Sony's 3D Audio implementation: the Tempest 3D AudioTech. With this technology, the PS5 can transmit audio signals to Dolby Atmos-enabled devices like soundbars, television sets, and home theatre systems as well as overhead channels.
