You know the holiday season is in full swing when console manufacturers start to give consumers a reason to throw away all their hard-earned money on the latest games and gadgets. As the "real" console wars of this generation start, Sony has fired the loudest shots so far with the official confirmation of the PlayStation 5 Pro, which is looking more like a value purchase by the day, and the announcement of its latest PSOne-style line of accessories and bundles.

The limited edition collection of PlayStation 5 consoles and accessories are part of the company's 30th anniversary celebration of the PlayStation brand, which will likely culminate at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 on September 26 where the "Father of PlayStation", Ken Kutaragi, is expected to share a few words.

As if to drive the point of the importance of September 26 home, Sony confirmed that pre-orders for the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will start on the said date ahead of their release on November 21.

According to Sony, the 30th Anniversary Collection will include a PS5 Digital Edition bundle, a PS5 Pro bundle, and standalone PSOne-style versions of the PlayStation Portal, DualSense Edge, and DualSense.
