What happens when you've run out of ideas for the next game and its co-creator has long left the studio? One idea is to go back to the first game, if only to give yourself more time to find ideas for a sequel. It worked, somewhat, for The Last of Us Part 1 earlier this year. Sony and Naughty Dog might as well do the same with an iconic Naughty Dog franchise.

According to Theleak.co, Sony is working on a reboot of the first Uncharted game. However, for the first time in franchise history, Naughty Dog will not be the developers. Instead, Naughty Dog will serve as a supporting studio for the "unknown developer" with the reboot.

Naughty's Dog IPs have often been a target for reboots and/or remakes by Sony. The first reboot was Ratchet & Clank, which came out in 2016 to tie into the release of the animated film adaptation of the same name. Then, Naughty Dog released The Last of Us Part 1 earlier this year for the PS5, with a PC port coming at a later date. If we were to speculate, Sony might officially announce the reboot at a later date, presumably when it confirms the all-but-confirmed live-action Uncharted sequel.
