Sony has confirmed the release of a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo set for February 6.

The news comes from players making similar claims of seeing the demo trailer, presumably uploaded by mistake, on the PlayStation Network.

The upcoming demo will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5 and features the segment from Nibelheim, allowing players to control either Cloud or Sephiroth. This episode marks a crucial turning point in the storyline, presenting a moment of revelation and surprise for the players. The choice to experience this part of the game from the perspectives of either Cloud or Sephiroth adds a new layer of engagement and exploration for players.

Sony plans to provide an extended preview of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in a dedicated State of Play broadcast, scheduled for February 6 at 6:30 PM ET. This event will be streamed live on Sony’s YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok platforms, giving its fans a deeper look into what the full game will offer. The timing suggests that the demo will be released in conjunction with this broadcast, providing immediate access for viewers inspired by the showcased content.

For those unfamiliar with the events leading up to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, a video recap is available. This recap is brings players up to speed with a summary of key events from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Available on PS5, PS4, and PC, the original remake set the stage for the continuing narrative, and this recap ensures that both new players and those needing a refresher can fully enjoy the sequel.

By offering a glimpse into the game’s opening chapter and the opportunity to explore the world map, Square Enix invites players into the immersive world of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

It’s just unfortunate that Sony had to release the trailer for the demo by accident.

The prevailing theory is that Aerith will wake up in the "other" timeline once she dies in the original timeline.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, as the second game in the remake trilogy, continues the legacy of the original Final Fantasy game, expanding on its story, characters, and world in ways that’s both innovative and respectful of the source material. Its story will see the party through the Forgotten City but with added scenes, including a playable portion with Zack Fair and a deeper look at Sephiroth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is releasing on PS5 on February 29 with reviews coming out a week before. The PC port is expected sometime next year after Final Fantasy 16. Unlike FF16, however, FF7 Rebirth nor FF7 Remake aren’t coming to Xbox.
