Pirates are hardy men. We've heard tales of brave seafarers fighting against the elements in their heyday. History even depicts a handful of pirates as legendary figures that made their mark in history. Ubisoft wants to capitalize on the popularity of pirates with Skull & Bones. The only question is, can Ubisoft succeed?

Ubisoft's upcoming pirate sim finally got a release date and gameplay trailer, which confirms earlier leaks. After being announced at E3 2017, Skull & Bones will finally come out on November 8, and we're not quite sold on this idea. Why? Because God of War: Ragnarok will come out just a day later on November 9.

Skull & Bones will give players the opportunity to captain pirate ships, accept contracts, as well as pillage islands and loot merchant ships, among others. According to Ubisoft, Skull and Bones will be set during the second Golden Age of Piracy and will let players team up with up to two friends and fight against other players in open waters. In addition, the French publisher promises a content-filled multi-year approach to Skull & Bones that will include a regular stream of updates and content.
