Skate 4 has been in development for a while. Now, we just found out what kind of game the next Skate is going to be.
According to Electronic Arts, Skate 4 (or, just "skate." if you like it that way) will be a live service and free-to-play game with cross-play and cross-progression for the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. But, don't worry. The developers reassured fans that the new Skate is "not pay to win." In addition, EA confirmed that the "not Skate" game will have "no map areas locked behind [a] paywall" and that it will not have "paid loot boxes" as well as "paid gameplay advantages."
In a recent stream, the developers explained that it took notes from another EA game, Apex Legends. The goal is for the studio to monetize the upcoming Skate title without having a negative impact on the quality and gameplay experience of players who don't want to or can't afford to spend money on the game.
Finally, EA confirmed that it is working on a mobile version of the game with cross-platform support.
