On March 23, Capcom treated fans with a remake of Resident Evil 4, which eventually became a GOTY contender (yes, it has been a common talking point this year, but what can we do?). Around the same time last year, Konami is looking to pull off a similar feat.

According to PCGameBenchmark, the remake of Silent Hill 2 could hit the storeshelves on March 21, 2024.

While Konami has remained reticent about divulging details, the specificity of March 21 as the release date has sparked hope among fans. The information, albeit unofficial, aligns with previous statements from the voice actor for James, the protagonist, indicating an early 2024 release. This has further bolstered the plausibility of a March release window.

If Konami can partner with Sony for an extensive marketing campaign, that would be pretty sweet.

The original Silent Hill 2 is a seminal work in the survival horror genre, revered for its psychological depth as well as its excellent use of atmosphere. The unsettling fog, which is born out of the technical limitations of the technology of its time, helped lay the groundwork for future horror games. To this day, Silent Hill 2's influence can still be felt. Thus, the decision to revisit and remake such an iconic game has undoubtedly set high expectations.
