On March 23, Capcom treated fans with a remake of Resident Evil 4, which eventually became a GOTY contender (yes, it has been a common talking point this year, but what can we do?). Around the same time last year, Konami is looking to pull off a similar feat.
According to PCGameBenchmark, the remake of Silent Hill 2 could hit the storeshelves on March 21, 2024.
While Konami has remained reticent about divulging details, the specificity of March 21 as the release date has sparked hope among fans. The information, albeit unofficial, aligns with previous statements from the voice actor for James, the protagonist, indicating an early 2024 release. This has further bolstered the plausibility of a March release window.

The original Silent Hill 2 is a seminal work in the survival horror genre, revered for its psychological depth as well as its excellent use of atmosphere. The unsettling fog, which is born out of the technical limitations of the technology of its time, helped lay the groundwork for future horror games. To this day, Silent Hill 2’s influence can still be felt. Thus, the decision to revisit and remake such an iconic game has undoubtedly set high expectations.
Further fueling the rumors are suggestions that the Silent Hill 2 Remake could offer an expanded narrative, delving into the origin story of Pyramid Head, one of the franchise’s most iconic antagonists. Such a prospect adds a layer of excitement, as fans are eager to explore the depths of this enigmatic character.
However, skepticism still lingers, and for good reason – Konami’s eerie silence has paved the way for misinformation on top of a bunch of prematurely leaked details. Fans are divided, wondering if whether Bloober Team can deliver.
Now, going back to the release date, it’s interesting that the unofficial number coincides with the brief appearance of a pair of pre-order listings. Major releases don’t usually ramp up their PR and advertising until a few months prior to their releases, suggesting that if the March 21 date holds true, an official confirmation and an influx of promotional material could emerge around January.
This isn’t the first time release date rumors have emerged regarding the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Earlier in the year, claims of the game being ready for release were debunked by Bloober Team, following a misinterpreted statement from their CEO, Piotr Babieno. The most recent speculation adds to the tapestry of rumors, yet it’s imperative to approach it with cautious optimism. Konami’s silence and the absence of an official confirmation warrant a measured response.
The strategic reluctance to confirm a release date could be a calculated move on Konami’s part. Considering the kind of leaks we’ve gotten about pretty much every big project lately – remember when someone leaked Starfield earlier than they should? – divulging such critical information prematurely is risky. But, if Konami has indeed shared the release date with retailers before an official announcement, it would be an unconventional move, albeit not entirely implausible.
For now, survival horror fans can set their eyes on The Game Awards on December 7, which could potentially serve as a platform for Konami to unveil more details. As the date draws near, the excitement and speculation surrounding the Silent Hill 2 Remake reach new heights.
Speaking of Konami, it’s bringing back a familiar voice to help out with its Metal Gear revival. It’s unclear if it will do the same for Silent Hill.
