2019 action-thriller starring lawyer-turned detective, Takayuki Yagami, is getting a sequel that will be developed by the Yakuza Studio, as confirmed by Sega during a "Judgment Day" live stream held on May 7.

The Judgement sequel by Yakuza Studio will be titled Lost Judgement. Yagami is set to reprise his role as the game's protagonist, as he goes on to investigate a series of murder-related mysteries.

Is the Judgment Sequel Confirmed?

According to the Yakuza series executive director, Toshihiro Nagoshi, Lost Judgment will follow up directly on the story of Yagami. In particular, the fallout from having received a guilty verdict from the Japanese court. Takuya Kimura, who is Yagami's voice actor in the Japanese version of the game, explained that the sequel will see Yagami through a story that has him going into a local high school while undercover.

Lost Judgment will be set primarily in Kamurocho in Tokyo and Yokohoma. Lost Judgement's producer, Kazuki Hosokawa, refers to the latter as a living city. He says that the game will feature a day-night cycle, with Yokohoma changing drastically depending on what time it is of the day. It's also where the high school Yagami will infiltrate is located, which Hosokawa claims was modeled in "great detail" for better immersion.

As a true sequel, Lost Judgment will improve on the combat and investigations of the first title. It will give Yagami access to multiple fighting styles and ways to investigate clues. But, of course, central to the game will be Yagami disguising himself as one of the local Yokohama teens. At the local high school, players will see Yagami box dance and skateboard, just like any teenager within the area would.
