Producer claims that the Scorpion King reboot script is already finished

Seven Bucks Production's president of production, Hiram Garcia, revealed in an Collider interview that they have finished working on the draft for the Scorpion King reboot.

Seven Bucks Productions is The Rock's production company. It was named after the amount of cash that Johnson had on hand before signing with the World Wrestling Federation, following his release from the Canadian Football League back in 1995. The company is responsible for producing most of The Rock's films, including Jungle Cruise, which is poised to get a sequel, and the upcoming DCEU film, Black Adam.

Now, going back to the interview, Garcia added that they are set to edit and polish the finished script. This suggests that it won't be long before filming is going to begin. However, Garcia declined to offer other details about the script. It is unknown if the reboot will follow the same story as the original. Although the film kickstarted The Rock's career, it was largely panned by critics despite earning $180 million in the box office on a $60 million budget.

With that said, we do have some disappointing news for fans expecting to see Johnson reprise the role that made him famous.

While Johnson is confirmed to help produce the Scorpion King reboot, he won't be starring in it. Of course, this is all still subject to change. Who knows? If Scorpion King doesn't begin filming for a couple of years, we could see Johnson appear once again as the titular legendary hero. Then again, we wouldn't count on it. In addition to Black Adam, Johnson is set to star in the reboot of the classic 1986 film, Big Trouble in Little China, as well as a third Jumanji film and a sequel to Hobbs & Shaw.

It's safe to say that Johnson's schedule is packed for the next couple of years and he's only going to add more to it as COVID-19 pandemic restrictions ease up.

We can only hope that whoever takes on the Scorpion King mantle can fill The Rock's enormous shoes.
