Ryan Reynolds can't seem to do any wrong these days. After subverting public opinion by starring in two of the highest-grossing R-rated films of all time, the Canadian actor has on to prove that video game movies can be good - twice!
Following a starring role in 2019's Detective Pikachu, Ryan Reynolds put on the shoes of the non-playable character, Guy, who is the main character in Free Guy.
After being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Free Guy has received both critical acclaim and commercial success. As a matter of fact, Free Guy just scored $28.4 million in the box office, which is a pandemic-best for an original movie.
Because of the film's success, a sequel was all but guaranteed, and Reynolds himself has now confirmed that Disney is interested in doubling down on the original video game movie.
