Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 review blunder: GameXplain’s early peek raises fan excitement

The Marvel's Spider-Man 2 review was available to watch for the entire internet for roughly three hours before the uploader took it down.

We imagine this is how Insomniac Games is trying to prevent details about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from leaking online.

Who needs leakers and insiders when you have reviewers who can’t wait but tell everyone about what they just played?

All jokes aside, the unfortunate has happened as GameXplain, the “one-stop shop for EVERYHING Nintendo”, effectively cut ties with Sony and PlayStation Studios by mistakingly uploading their review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 way ahead of the review embargo.

This comes just days after several important details about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 found their way online over a week after reviewers got their copy of the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is easily one of the most highly anticipated games of this current generation. After the successful outings of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Insomniac Games decided to give fans double of everything by making both Peter Parker and Miles Morales co-lead playable characters in a sequel featuring the most iconic Spider-Man villain of all time in Venom.

Naturally, fans have long wanted to get their hands on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. And, while Insomniac has pleaded players not to leak info about the game, this hasn’t stopped details about everything from boss fights to suit options, the start-up menu, gameplay, and more, from making their way on the internet. Specifically, the game’s dedicated subreddit is a cesspool of spoiler-filled information. If you’d like to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fresh, we suggest staying away from this corner of the internet, or social media, for that matter. Unless, of course, you’ve already played the Insomniac game, in which case, congratulations.

We can’t say the same for the reviewers and the guy responsible for uploading GameXplain’s review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 way earlier, though.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is believed to set up a third game where the Green Goblin is the main villain.

Just as everyone was still reeling from all the revelations ahead of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s release on October 20, the gaming channel went ahead and told everyone its thoughts about the game. The good news is that they’re on par with expectations, and by that, we mean that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is, according to the reviewers, “the best superhero game.”

The main reviewer scored Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 the channel’s equivalent of a 9/10, “Loved “, while the other gave it a “Mind-Blowing” score. Either way is good and should give Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a good shot at making a late-run for at least a Game of the Year nomination at The Game Awards in December.

While the reviewers and the channel will likely suffer for the earlier leak – it’s no longer available – the consensus is that their review has only made fans more excited for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to come out. No one’s exactly disappointed by what they’ve seen about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 so far – their issue lies with seeing the game earlier. Hopefully, this makes the nearly two-week wait feel more bearable.

So far, we haven’t heard bad things about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

By the way, you still have a bit of time left to take advantage of Sony’s latest promotion for new PlayStation 5 owners.
