Sony’s streak of impressive additions to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium library have come to an end.
March usually heralds the arrival of hard-hitting titles for PS Plus subscribers, even way before the revamp. It’s the company’s way of encouraging users to resubscribe and up the numbers before the current fiscal year ends. The past few months made it seem like this would happen this year, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
The highlight of the PS Plus Extra lineup for March 2024 is one of the most divisive title titles last year, NBA 2K24.
Despite NBA 2K24‘s position as the latest entry in the long-running basketball franchise and the excitement surrounding the “Mamba Moments” mode, which commemorates the career highlights of the late Kobe Bryant, it debuted as one of the worst sports sims on Steam and the public reception didn’t improve much on other platforms.
If it’s any consolation, the PS5 version of NBA 2K24 is miles better compared to the PC, at least graphically.
While NBA 2K24 might not be the best way to end the fiscal year for PS Plus, Sony did an an electric mix of titles that will soon be available, including a trio of must-play titles: Resident Evil 3, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
CyberConnect2’s 2020 title, an action role playing game that follows the life and times of the lead protagonist, Goku, from his childhood all the way to the latest canon events, is the perfect way to pay homage to its creator, Akira Toroyama, who tragically passed away earlier this month. Between it and the other additions as well as Chrono Trigger, a Toriyama classic, there’s still plenty of good reasons to re-up your PS Plus Extra membership in case it has already expired.
Aside from what we’ve already mentioned, PS Plus Premium subscribers get access to classic titles like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy and Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, among others.
With Sony working closely with an emulation specialist to presuambly bring more of its iconic PSOne and PS2 titles to the Premium tier of PS Plus, the PS Plus should only get better.
