Sony confirms new PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games for April

According to Sony, this is all part of the company's "normal content refresh." Sony reveals that it will always let subscribers know when games are leaving the service with a separate section on the PS4 and the PS5.

Marvel's Spider-Man, Resident Evil, and NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 are just among the games that are part of the incoming PS Plus purge.

But, don't worry, if you've already redeemed Marvel's Spider-Man, among others, as part of the base-level PS Plus freebie, or PS Plus Essential, you'll still be able to keep it. We can only imagine the outrage if Sony decided to start removing titles redeemed as part of the service's monthly featured games.

However, we can't say the same for the aforementioned games once May 15 comes. Even after downloading the games set to depart the PS Plus Game Catalog, you'll still end up losing access to them once they've left. Your only choice is to either wait for Sony to bring them back or buy the same game from the PlayStation Store if you haven't finished playing it yet.

Once again, Sony continues to confuse audiences with its strategy. It's as if Sony is just content with doing the opposite of the Xbox Game Pass. Whereas Microsoft is more than happy to lock in its admittedly barren first-party games on the Xbox Game Pass, especially at launch, Sony is deathly averse to this idea even years after a first-party exclusive has come out for the platform. But, then again, maybe Sony knows something we don't. After all, Xbox admits that they're bleeding money because of the Game Pass.

For now, though, it's best to focus on the positives.

In addition to the incoming PS Plus games, Sony is also hosting a State of Play event exclusively for Final Fantasy 16 on April 13.
