Outriders was one of the most hyped games of 2021. Before its release, it was as if the entire fandom was talking about the then-upcoming looter shooter. Square Enix, the game's publisher, as well as the developers, People Can Fly, put together a concerted effort to market the game and it worked. Unfortunately, the hype and resulting expectations completely overwhelmed People Can Fly, who couldn't keep up with the demand for new content let alone fix the game's numerous bugs and issues.

The hype surrounding Outriders eventually died down as more players realized that People Can Fly wasn't going to turn the looter-shooter into a Games as a Service title.

To everyone's surprise, though, People Can Fly just dropped a massive free update more than half a year after the game's launch.
