Mortal Kombat is bringing forth a new era this September 19 as NetherRealm Studios has officially confirmed the nitty and gritty about the incoming entry in the franchise just a day after Ed Boon started teasing fans online.

A little over a decade after it rebooted Mortal Kombat, NetherRealm is reinventing the legendary fighting game again with its next chapter. As confirmed by the previous teasers and leaks, Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of sorts, which takes place in the New Era timeline. Thus, the story makes Liu Kang's victory and ascension to godhood following the events of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath canon to the entire story.

Mortal Kombat 1, set for release in September, promises to turn heads and shatter skulls when it comes out.
