Nvidia has officially unveiled the minimum and recommended system requirements for the Portal with RTX DLC as well as some of the features included in the update. Nvidia revealed the new details during the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series launch event earlier in the week.
Prior to the event, Nvidia had announced Portal with RTX expansion pack will arrive on PCs on December 8 as a free update to owners of the original game. It comes with several new features that aren't on the original version, like ray tracing lighting and reflection effects as well as DLSS 3 support.
Ray tracing is a graphical technology that provides incredible visuals and improves lighting and shadows through AI. It is implemented in newer titles, although it is also suitable for use with older games. The DLSS 3, on the other hand, improves the game's performance by increasing the response rate and image quality and enhancing the brute-force rendering performance by up to 4x.
While Portal with RTX doesn't require the best-performing computer to run, it does require a PC with powerful specifications. The minimum specifications required to enjoy the game include Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card, 12 GB RAM, and 25GB of free storage. The said specifications will enable you to play the game at 1080p resolution and 60fps. Players can get even better performance with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 16 GB RAM, and 25GB of storage space. With these specifications, they will be able to play the game at 1080p resolution and 60fps frame rates.
