Rockstar Games' immensely popular open-world title, Grand Theft Auto 5, continues to find its way to new consoles many years after it was first released.
With that said, we've already known for a while already that GTA V was coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. But, what we didn't know was when the next-gen GTA 5 was coming, until Rockstar Games' most recent announcement.
According to Rockstar, the next-gen Grand Theft Auto V will arrive on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles on November 11. What's New in the Next-Gen GTA V Version? It'll be interesting to see how well GTA Online will sell as a standalone title.
Unfortunately, Rockstar Games did not go into much detail about what's coming to the next-gen GTA V iterations. The only words we have to go on is that GTA 5 on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X will be "expanded and enhanced. It was also not clarified if the next-gen GTA version will come as a free upgrade for current owners of the game, although earlier reports do indicate that this is going to be the case.
Rockstar Games' latest announcement seems to focus more on GTA Online. The online multiplayer component will now release as a standalone title. GTA Online will also launch at the same time as the next-gen GTA V.
GTA Online will also be available for free to all PlayStation 5 owners until February 22. Meanwhile, PS4 players with active PlayStation Plus subscriptions will receive $1,000,000 every month in GTA Online until the PS5 version arrives.
