Helldivers 2 is receiving its first major content update on March 14. This co-op shooter's upcoming update introduces a new Warbond, essentially its version of a battle pass, the Cutting Edge. The Cutting Edge, similar to the Steeled Veterans, brings a wave of new content for players to unlock, including weaponry, armor, and cosmetic items.
The centerpiece of the Cutting Edge Warbond is its arsenal of futuristic weaponry, the weapon of choice for the defenders of Super Earth. Interested protectors of galactic democracy can acquire the LAS-16 Sickle, a laser rifle that fires in short bursts, the SG-8P Punisher Plasma, a shotgun modified to fire explosive plasma rounds, and the ARC-12 Blitzer, a weapon capable of projecting close-range lightning bolts or charged long-range blasts. Finally, the new LAS-7 Dagger pistol and G-23 Stun Grenade round out the additions.
The Cutting Edge Warbond will also introduce three new armor sets from the EX series prototypes. While details on their functionality are scarce, these high-tech suits boast unique descriptions, such as a "rubber underlayer for insulation" and the generation of a "strong magnetic field." Three new capes and three new emotes provide further cosmetic customization options for players.
As previously mentioned, Cutting Edge is a premium Warbond. Thus, purchasing it will require in-game currency, Super Credits. However, unlike with other live service titles, Helldivers 2lets players earn Super Credits through gameplay. But if you want to take a shortcut in your eagerness to fight for freedom, you can use real money. The exact cost of the Cutting Edge Warbond has not been revealed, but it is expected to be similar to the existing Steeled Veterans Warbond, priced at 1000 Super Credits (approximately $10 USD).
