Santa Monica Studio just released arguably its first significant piece of post-launch content for God of War: Ragnarok. But, don’t get your hopes high up – tis isn’t more story content for the award-winning PlayStation exclusive.
Effective immediately, God of War: Ragnarok will let players replay the story campaign with all their weapons, armor, and enchantments carried over. In addition to this, the update adds new armor sets that players can unlock and equip as well.
Of course, there are caveats; even if you already have certain equipment to access specific areas, you won’t be able to go there before the story lets you. So, yeah, we all know what you’re thinking with your Hex and/or Sonic arrows.
Examples of new gear that Kratos can now equip are the Spartan Armor, which effectively forces you to play through the game with zero perks and stat bonuses; the Armor of the Black Bear, the cloak that Kratos wears in the game’s first cinematic; the Ares Armor and Zeus Armor, which is self-explanatory.
Ultimately, New Game Plus is a good reason to visit Midgard and tear through the rest of the nine realms with a bit more of a challenge. It should also make God of War: Ragnarok much better for those who haven’t tried it yet.
Speaking of God of War, Tyr’s voice actor is teasing that fans will see more of the Norse God of War sooner rather than later. Also, the folks behind the God of War live-action adaptation are starting to feel the pressure following the success of HBO’s The Last of Us. Finally, God of War appears to have inspired a video game adaptation of the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles storyline.
