In April, Bridgerton season 2 set a new weekly viewership record for Netflix. Now, Netflix is dropping more details about the period drama's third follow-up season.
According to Derry Girls star, Nicola Coughlan, who also portrays Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton, Season 3 will focus on the love story between her character and Luke Newton's Colin Bridgerton. This is a departure from Julia Quinn's novels, which originally highlighted Luke Thompson's Benedict Bridgerton in the third book. Instead, the show will simply skip to the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which featured Colin and Penelope. Don't worry, as Bridgerton can still circle back to the events of An Offer From a Gentleman in the fourth season.
In a Variety interview, Bridgerton showrunner, Jess Brownell, explained the reason behind the switch, saying "I really feel like it's Colin and Penelope's time", adding that the third season "felt like the perfect moment to tee it up."
