Netflix has been making headlines for antagonizing its customers for quite some time now, but fans of the Recruit don't have a reason to feel like that just yet. The cliffhanger ending of Season 1 will be expanded upon in season 2, which Netflix and Recruit protagonist Noah Centineo confirmed in Netflix's Tudum blog.
The Recruit premiered on Netflix on December 16, 2022, immediately garnering positive reviews with an 86% audience score for the series at Rotten Tomatoes. The reception is a bit colder on the Tomatometer at 67%, but by and large, critics and the audience are impressed with the story the series is developing and offer praise to the charming leading man and the rest of the cast.
Here's what showrunner and executive producer Alexi Hawley had to say regarding the series renewal:
I'm thrilled to dive back into the fun, funny, action-packed world of The Recruit. Seeing how invested our audience became in the show's adventurous take on the spy world and Noah's turn as Owen has been incredibly rewarding, and I can't wait to turn it all up to "11" in Season Two"
