This year has been an action movie lover's dream come true with both John Wick: Chapter 4 and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning coming out just within months of each other. How lucky are we? But let me cut to the chase and explain why you'll want to make time for Tom Cruise this weekend. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to read this spoiler-free review and tell all your friends about it.
Ethan Hunt has been kicking butts (and sometimes taking names) and saving the world from shadow governments and diabolical plots for the last 27 years. But nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, could have prepared him for what he was about to face in his final impossible mission.
Right from the opening scene in Sevastopol, where we are introduced to the mysterious and formidable chief antagonist, "The Entity," an AI that has become sentient, Christopher McQuarrie doesn't let up on the action. As the impossible mission unfolds, Ethan Hunt and his band of misfits find themselves in a relentless chase, constantly trying to catch up with the ever-elusive enemy that they barely understand.
To be fair, no one really gets what this amorphous, sentient villain is exactly. And on top of that, there are two skeleton keys that everyone wants to get their hands on that act as some sort of MacGuffin to access the system.
