Minecraft becomes the first to log one trillion views on YouTube

To give you an idea of just how absurd that is, a billion views is a million multiplied by a thousand. Meanwhile, a trillion is a billion multiplied by another thousand, or a million multiplied by another million.

Naturally, Mojang and Youtube are celebrating this milestone by doing the following: YouTube will re-design its homepage to pay homage to Minecraft and its creators for 24 hours. A curated playlist of all the fan-favorite Minecraft videos on YouTube, as well as the most-watched videos and the most popular streamers. The official YouTube Culture & Trends website will have a dedicated Minecraft landing page. Minecraft players can head on over to the Marketplace to redeem the YouTube Creator Skin pack, which includes skins and items inspired by the biggest Minecraft content creators on YouTube. The only thing that's arguably missing now is for Minecraft to be available on Steam and other digital distribution platforms.

It's amazing just how big Minecraft has become. With hundreds of billions of views in 2020 alone (and quite possibly just as much in 2021), we wouldn't be surprised if Minecraft only continues to get bigger. Who knows? A few years from now and Minecraft could become the first game to cross one trillion accumulated views in a year.
