Microsoft secures another cloud-gaming deal following CMA block

The tech giant insists on betting its gaming future on cloud gaming even though it's exactly what tripped up its Activision Blizzard purchase.

Microsoft doesn't plan on slowing down its cloud gaming expansion despite the UK CMA's decision.

Microsoft won’t let the UK’s CMA ruling stop it from making deals with other cloud gaming platforms.

Just days after the controversial decision, Microsoft signed another 10-year cloud gaming deal with Nware, a cloud gaming platform with services all over Europe that cater to more than 10 million subscribers with its 500-game strong library of games.

The 10-year commitment guarantees that Nware will have access to the Xbox Game Pass’ embarrassment of riches.

This is Microsoft’s nth cloud gaming deal in recent months, which previously included Nvidia Geforce, Boosteroid, Nintendo, Ubitus, and EE.

We highly doubt that the UK’s CMA will change its mind following the latest deal made by Microsoft. We’re expecting the situation to get worse for Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, the latter of which saw its CEO, Bobby Kotick, call out the CMA and FTC for secretly meeting behind closed doors.

Microsoft has reiterated several times before that all it wants to do is to make games available for everyone around the world.

Some believe that the UK CMA might change its mind if the European Commission approves the deal.

Ultimately, now that the CMA has decided to block the deal, we’re expecting Microsoft and Activision Blizzard to continue sniping at the regulatory bodies that denied them the opportunity to merge with each other. It’s believed that the decision has delayed the proposed acquisition for at least a year, with some naysayers calling the deal dead in the water already.

Microsoft’s gaming arm, Xbox, is expected to launch at least three big exclusives later this year: Redfall, Forza Motorsport, and Starfield.
