More than two decades after gamers learned that they could literally wait out their way through a boss level, Konami will be breathing new life into the beloved Metal Gear franchise by way of a remake.
The announcement of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was made at the most recent PlayStation Showcase. Naturally, this stirred excitement among excited fans who've been waiting for the Metal Gear Solid franchise to make a comeback.
The original game, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, debuted in 2004 on the PlayStation 2. Canonically, it's the first game in the Metal Gear franchise, effectively exploring the history of the Big Boss and the Boss. It has since established itself as the best game by Hideo Kojima, thanks to its innovative boss fights, stealth-based gameplay, and unforgettable storyline.
Konami's decision to revive Snake Eater, in particular, is interesting. The approach is similar to its strategy with another popular franchise, Silent Hill, which also came into prominence around the same time.
Instead of remaking the first entry in the series, Konami is focusing its efforts on the most popular installment. Although, as previously mentioned, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, is technically the first game in the franchise.
