Meta unveiled its new virtual reality headset, the Meta Quest Pro, during its recent Meta Connect 2022 conference. The pair of headsets, formerly known as Project Cambria, is the company's first release since 2020's Oculus Quest 2, as well as since it rebranded as Meta. The device is backward compatible with the Meta Quest 2 catalog. As a result, owners can access the same games and media that were available on Meta Quest 2.
Given its blend of features, the Meta Quest Pro represents a massive leap forward for VR headsets. It has a host of innovative features including high-res sensors for improved mixed reality experiences, cutting-edge LCDs for better visuals, and a curved-cell battery enabling a slimmer design than ever before. What's more? The Quest Pro is Meta's first attempt at making a headset suitable for both virtual reality and mixed reality purposes.
While the company's previous releases were targeted at the ordinary consumer, the Quest Pro is targeted at businesses and professionals. This is immediately evident in its price point of $1,499, which is over $1,000 more expensive than Meta's last release the Meta Quest 2. Also, the headset will excite gamers given its suitability for gaming endeavors. For example, the device's eye tracking and Natural Facial Expressions technology can project natural and realistic versions of people in virtual reality. This feature enhances a professional's ability to work in a virtual office and helps augment the gaming experience as well.
