After being delayed, Marvel's Avengers next-gen versions have finally received a release date.

The game's publishers, Square Enix, revealed that the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of Marvel's Avengers will release on March 18. Even better, those who already own the game on their PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles will receive these next-gen updates free of charge.

Along with the release date, Square Enix also revealed that they will also add Clint Barton, otherwise known as Hawkeye, to Marvel Avenger's roster of characters in a new DLC.

The free downloadable content for Marvel's Avengers will go under the title, Marvel's Avengers Operation: Hawkeye - Future Imperfect.

Marvel's Avengers Next-gen To Release On March 18

In addition to adding the character into the game, the DLC will also feature an entirely new story quest featuring Hawkeye and his protégé, Kate Bishop, as well as the tyrannical future version of the Hulk, Maestro. What's New in the Marvel Avenger's Next-Gen Versions? While a solid single-player title, Marvel's Avengers suffered from a lack of variety that made gameplay feel shallow and uninventive.

Marvel Avenger's next-gen versions will see higher framerates (60 fps or higher) and support for up to 4K resolution. However, judging by how these are worded, it's highly likely that the resolution will be variable. This means that, during graphically intensive scenes, the game might drop in resolution so as performance will not suffer.
