Marvel Studios' co-president Victoria Alonso steps down

Aside from her work at Marvel, Alonso also produced an Academy Award-nominated international feature in Argentina, 1985.

Marvel will have a huge void to fill with the exit of Alonso from the studio. Being the head of visual effects and post-production meant that she was in charge of the final product that audiences get to watch. The studio has reportedly been struggling with the post-production and visual effects work on its most recent projects leading to delays and poor critical reception.

Ant-Man 3's middling reviews have partly been blamed on VFX problems. Three unnamed VFX employees for Marvel recently revealed that shortcuts were made during the post-production of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, leading to subpar visual effects. The report adds that Marvel allocated more manpower to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which had a negative impact on the quality of Ant-Man 3's visuals.

The recent delay of The Marvels has also been attributed to extended post-production work. The movie has been pushed back by four months to give enough time to improve the quality of the upcoming film.

There are reports that major changes are underway at Marvel. The studio is apparently re-evaluating how it makes content and is focusing its efforts more on quality rather than quantity.

Marvel has also been delaying its current slate of TV shows for Disney+, with the latest being Secret Invasion.
