In a thrilling surprise for horror enthusiasts, it's been confirmed that a sixth film in the Insidious franchise is in development. This time, it's an exciting spin-off from the main storyline.

Thread: An Insidious Tale will be produced by Screen Gems, Blumhouse, and James Wan's Atomic Monster, a power combo that should raise the spirits of Insidious fans around the globe. The film will be helmed and written by Jeremy Slater, who recently flexed his directing chops on Disney+ with Moon Knight.

The report comes from Deadline, confirming that Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani are close to signing a deal to star in this new chapter of the Insidious franchise.

This isn't Slater's first step into the horror genre. Previously, he showcased his knack for fear-inducing narratives before with the underrated TV series, Exorcist. But, this will mark Slater's directorial debut, adding to the sense of fresh momentum behind the project.

Moore and Nanjiana are household names. The former, in particular, is an iconic actress/singer who starred in memorable titles like A Walk to Remember, 47 Meters Below and This is Us. The latter has also gone through a bit of a transformation lately, specifically for his starring role in Eternals, which may or may not be getting a sequel.
