Lords of the Fallen unveils a "Technical Showcase" trailer

Unreal Engine 5's Lumen Global Illumination technology was used to create complex environments and better lighting in real-time. Hexworks also created a custom toolset using the game engine to make traveling between worlds in the game seamless.

The game features two vastly different worlds in Axiom and Umbral. The former is the world of the living while the latter is the land of the dead. It is not yet clear if players can traverse between the two worlds on the fly. However, Unreal Engine 5 gives the developers the tools to make their vision of the game a reality.

Lords of the Fallen features a fast and challenging combat system where players can use a huge number of uniquely brutal weapons. Gamers can also choose to utilize magic spells instead of weapons to take on foes.

The expansive character creation system also lets players choose one of the nine starting classes. The ARPG allows gamers to develop unique playstyles by upgrading stats, weapons, armor, and spells.

Lords of the Fallen will also feature a two-player online cooperative mode. There will also be some sort of incursion where players from other realms can invade your games similar to Elden Ring.

Lords of the Fallen is a sequel to the 2014 game of the same name. The original was developed by Deck13 and CI Games. Hexworks, a CI Games subsidiary studio, takes over the development of the sequel.

It does not yet have a release date yet, but Lords of the Fallen will be coming to the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
