Local Legends of Fontaine and their locations – Genshin Impact Fontaine 4.2

These bosses will truly test your might.

In Fontaine, you can find 16 overworld mini-bosses that are extremely difficult to beat. These mini-bosses are equivalent to those on Floor 12 of the Spiral Abyss and are referred to as the Legends of Fontaine.

Defeating each of these bosses grants you an achievement, and these local legends also respawn on every server reset. So you always have tanky enemies to test your teams out. These enemies have up to 3-4 million HP.

Normally, players don’t have any means of testing their teams outside the Spiral Abyss. However, these local legends not only allow you to test out your team rotations, but also do it with food buffs since these bosses are out in the Overworld.

You can find these bosses both on land and underwater. The underwater bosses are fairly easy to fight, but the ones on land are quite difficult. Make sure you bring your A-Team for the fight. We recommend trying out our hyperbloom team that shreds these bosses.

Each of these bosses has a particular way to be dealt with. There is always some form of simple strategy involved to do massive damage and take care of them as soon as possible.

Some enemies are unique, while most of them are just tanky versions of the regular mobs you find in the overworld.

Land

These are the locations of all the land Fontaine Legends.

Ninianne of the Lake

The Ninianne of the Lake is located on the beach northeast of Elynas in the Beryl Region.

Location of Ninianne of the Lake on the map.

Ninianne of the Lake is a Tainted Water-Splitting Phantasm and extremely tanky with over 4 million HP.

This boss hits very hard, so it is best to bring your best healer or a shielder with you.

Since this is a hydro enemy, it has a permanent hydro element aura and it is immune to hydro damage. It also has 10% resistance to all elements, including physical damage.

You can carry out different reactions, such as vaporizing, bloom, or hyperbloom, without needing another hydro unit on your team.

When you defeat the boss, you will get an achievement called ‘Ninianne of the Lake.’

‘Ninianne of the Lake’ Achievement.

Vivianne of the Lake

Vivianne of the Lake is located north of the Court of Fontaine, just northeast of the Echoes of the Deep Tides domain.

Vivianne of the Lake’s location on the map.

While all Fontaine legends are strong, this one, in particular, is one of the strongest, if not the strongest.

It has 3.6 million HP which is lower than Ninianne, but Vivianne hits really hard.

Vivianne of the Lake can easily one-shot you if you’re not careful when fighting it. You need a very strong healer or a shielder. Or both!

Vivianne of the Lake also has a permanent hydro element aura, so you can easily deal serious reactionary damage such as hyperbloom, bloom, and vaporize. it also has 10% increased resistance to all element types, including physical damage. And it is immune to hydro damage.

We recommend either bringing a hyperbloom team or a strong vaporize team.

Raiden’s national team is a strong contender here, but only if you can dodge most attacks. In most cases, you need to brute force your way in. But the lethal attacks from Vivianne will easily take out your Raiden Shogun or Xiangling.

When you defeat this boss, you will get an achievement called ‘Vivianne of the Lake.’

Yseut

Yseut is in a small camp northwest of Vivianne of the Lake just south of Mont Esus East.

Yseut’s location on the map.

Yseut has 3.6 million HP and she has 20% decreased resistance to physical damage.

She is also 10% resistant to all other element types except cryo which is a whopping 50%.

This Fatui enemy variant can apply a debuff called Bond of Life that temporarily restricts healing. Instead, it absorbs the healing your active character receives.

The Bond of Life absorbs healing and clears only after healing equal to its value is obtained.

Once defeated, you will be rewarded an achievement called ‘Yseut.’

Automated Supercomputing Field Generator

This boss is located near some ruins north of Central Laboratory Ruins.

It is north of the teleport waypoint on the road by the ruins.
It has 2.1 million HP but 10% resistance to all elemental damage, including physical damage type.

You must bring either a Claymore or any geo character for this boss because it has a geo shield. When the boss is shielded, it increases the elemental resistance of all elements to 210%.

You must break the shield using a Claymore character or geo attacks to deal maximum damage.

You also get low gravity around the boss. You can use this to your advantage and jump high up in the air to do plunge attacks.

Plunge attacks are also considered heavy attacks that can help deplete the shield.
Once the shield is down, try to do as much damage as possible before it can get it back up.

The boss is also Ousia-aligned. This means that if you attack it with a Pneuma-aligned character, it will be stunned for a short period of time.

When you eliminate this boss, you get an achievement called ‘Automated Supercomputing Field Generator.’

Rocky Avildsen

Rocky Avildsen is located in a small camp north of the Weeping Willow of the Lake.

Rocky Avildsen’s location on the map.

Rocky Avildsen is an extremely tanky boss with over 3.3 million HP.

He deals massive blows and does strong physical damage with his punches.

You can defeat him using any of your favorite teams as long as you have a good sustain (healer or shielder). However, Rocky Avildsen is 20% less resistant to physical damage. He also has 10% increased resistance to other elemental types.

He sends shockwave through the ground and even does a slam attack dealing a lot of physical damage.

If you have a strong physical unit, you can try giving it a shot against Avildsen. Preferably Eula.

Upon defeating this boss, you will get an achievement called ‘Rocky Avildsen.’

Liam

Liam is in a small roadside camp by a small pond southwest of Rocky Avildsen and east of the Weeping Willow of the Lake.

Liam’s location on the map.

Liam is a very strong enemy and also has over 3.3 million HP.

Like Rocky Avildsen, Liam is also 20% less resistant to physical damage.

Liam attacks you using reactionary damage by combining pyro and electro. He has over 650 elemental mastery, which allows him to deal approximately 392% increased DMG through Transformative Reactions such as Overloaded reactions and around 88% increased DMG on attacks that trigger Amplifying Reactions such as Vaporization or Melting reactions.

Avoid his AoE pyro and electro attacks and take him out.

When Liam is defeated, you get an achievement having the same name as him, ‘Liam.’

Deianeira of Snezhevna

For this boss to spawn, you need to complete the world quests An Expected Plan and An Expected Lie. Once you’ve completed these world quests, the boss will spawn in the same area you visit during the world quest, An Expected Lie.

Deianeira spawns inside some ruins southwest of the Tower of Ipsissimus. It will have a locked door when you get to the location for the first time.

Location of the ruins Deianeira of Snezhevna resides in.

While you can open the door by solving a simple puzzle, the boss won’t spawn until you’ve completed the pre-required quests. Feel free to check out our complete guide on how to complete An Expected Lie and open the locked door.

Entrance to the ruins.

Once the door opens, go through the water barrier and continue going deeper.

You will find Deianeira of Snezhevna in the deeper part of the ruins.

She is similar to Yseut and has the same Bond of Life mechanic. Deianeira is a wind operative so she has 50% increased resistance to anemo and 10% to the rest of the elements.

She also has 20% decreased resistance to physical damage.

When you kill her, you will be rewarded with an achievement called ‘Deianeira of Snezhevna.’

Underwater

These are the locations of all the underwater Fontaine Legends.

Dobharcu, Lord of the Hidden

Dobharcu is located underwater at Chemin de L’Espoir, west of the Court of Fontaine.

Location of Dobharcu on the map.

Unlike the land fontaine legends, Dobharcu doesn’t have millions of HP. For this boss, it is best to bring a character of yours that has the most HP.

First, make sure you grab the Xenochromatic Blubberbeast ability from nearby the boss.
Dobharcu, Lord of the Hidden.

The boss will always go invisible.

Look for the bubbles to shoot at and stun it.
Keep swimming away from incoming “soundwaves” to avoid getting hit.

The waves from your blubberbeast ability will deal physical damage. Dobharcu has 10% increased physical resistance.

When you kill Dobharcu, you will get an achievement called ‘Dobharcu, Lord of the Hidden.’

Swords of the Gorge

You can find Murgleis and Cortana, both known as the Swords of the Gorge at Thalatta Submarine Canyon, located underwater northeast of Court of Fontaine.

Location of Swords of the Gorge on the map.

First, grab the Xenochromatic Hunter’s Ray ability from nearby as you will need its ability to fight these bosses.

Xenochromatic Hunter’s Ray ability.

The fastest way to eliminate these ray fishes are by destroying their “chained link” whenever they are charging it up.

Whenever you see them linking, attack the orb in the middle of their link and break their it to deal a lot of damage.

After that swim around and dodge their incoming slashes until they link up again. When they do, repeat the same until they’re dead.

Defeating them will grant you an achievement called ‘Swords of the Gorge.’

Fairy Knight Twins

Angelica and Medoro, also known as the Fairy Knight Twins can be found underwater southeast of Opera Epiclese.

Location of the Fairy Knight Twins on the map.

These are also similar to the Swords of the Gorge. Simply grab the Xenochromatic Hunter Ray’s ability and fight them.

Remember to break the orb linking them together for maximum damage.

When you’ve defeated them both, you’re rewarded with an achievement called ‘The Fairy Knight Twins.’

Ocean Circuit Judge

The Ocean Circuit Judge is underwater under the massive skull of Elynas.

Location of the Ocean Circuit Judge on the map.

This boss is a huge crab. You need to first grab the Xenochromatic Scuttle Crab ability that allows you to parry incoming damage.

When you have the ability, hold your skill button when aiming at the Ocean Circuit Judge and wait for it to hit you.

When the boss hits you while you’re holding your skill button, you block the attack and also charge your own.

Release your skill to send a projectile, dealing a lot of damage to the boss.

Repeat the same until the boss is defeated. Once defeated, you will be rewarded with an achievement called ‘Ocean Circuit Judge.’

Fading Veteran

Fading Veteran is underwater at the Elton Trench east of West Slopes of Mont Automnequi.

Location of the Fading Veteran on the map.
This boss is similar to Dobharcu and goes invisible.

You need to grab the Blubberbeast ability and defeat it using the shockwaves that come out of your hand.

Remember to follow the bubbles to pinpoint the location, and always lead your shots to hit the invisible boss.

When you defeat this mighty Blubberbeast, you will be rewarded with an achievement called ‘Fading Veteran.’

Iron Viscount

You need to solve the Boiling Lake puzzle to get to this boss. The boss is in an underwater cave, which we can access only after completing this overworld puzzle.

The Boiling Lake puzzle is located south of the Elynas Statue of the Seven.
There is a precious chest in the middle of a large lake, which you can unlock by solving smaller puzzles around the lake.

The first puzzle is located south of the lake. You will find some branches blocking a hydro urn.

Use a Pyro character to burn away the branches and free the hydro urn.

You can also use an Anemo character to swirl Pyro using the nearby flaming flowers.

Once freed, interact with the urn to send it to the middle of the lake where the locked precious chest is.

Hydro urn sent to the middle of the lake.

The next urn is located on the eastern side of the lake. This urn is protected by a couple of Armored Crabs and a Sternshield Crab.

Kill the crabs to free the urn and send it to the middle of the lake.
Sending the second hydro urn to the middle of the lake.

The final urn is on the northern side of the lake.

First, grab the Ousia energy block resting on a broken tree.

While holding the Ousia energy block, attack the Pneuma-aligned “box” to break it and reveal the hydro urn.

Pneuma-aligned “box” destroyed.
Interact with the hydro urn to send it to the middle of the lake.

Go to the middle of the lake where the chest is, and grab the hydrogranum. Jump into the lake briefly to put the hydro aura on yourself and get wet.

Do not stay inside the water for too long as it will deplete your health.

This will cause the hydrogranum to convert into a hydro core. When it converts into a core, it surrounds your character with a hydro field.

With the active hydro field, stand in the middle of the three hydro urns to ensure they all are within the radius of the hydro field.

Stand there for a few seconds, and all three hydro urns will “light up.” This will unlock the precious chest.

Open the precious chest, and a water teleporter will spawn.

Enter the teleporter, and you will be taken to the lair of the Iron Viscount.

This area is not available unless you solve the Boiling Lake puzzle.

However, the puzzle is still not fully completed.

Now, there is another set of puzzles you must solve to clear the “boiling” issue of the lake. You will notice some campfires and a locked hydro monument.

First, break the wooden box on the left side of the first fire and grab the hydrogranum.

Wooden box on the left side.

Step into the puddle of water to get wet and convert the hydrogranum into a hydro core.

Boiling puddle of water.

Install the hydro core inside the hydro totem to ensure the fire stays out.

The field stays in place when you install the hydro core into the totem.

Next, go past the second campfire on the right side and find a hydro amber.

Hydro amber.

Destroy it to get another hydrogranum and convert it into a hydro core.

Hydrogranum acquired by destroying the Hydro Amber.

It will automatically be turned into a hydro core because of the rain caused by destroying the hydro amber.

Install this hydro core into the hydro totem by the second campfire.

Continue moving forward from the right-hand side, and you will find three hydro-explosive barrels.

The three hydro barrels, each containing a hydrogranum.

Destroy them to get three hydrogranums.

Pick them all up to get a complete hydro core.

Continue moving forward and install the hydro core into the hydro totem by the next campfire.

Final hydro core installed to extinguish the last campfire.

Installing the third hydro core will unlock the hydro monument we saw at the beginning of this area.

Hydro monument unlocked.

Go to the hydro monument and apply hydro using any hydro character to solve this puzzle and fix the issue of the Boiling Lake.

Apply hydro to the monument.
The whole area will now be submerged in water, and you will be swimming.

However, now you will find yourself facing your local Fontaine legend, Iron Viscount.

Iron Viscount.

You defeat the Iron Viscount like you defeated the Ocean Circuit Judge.

You grab the Xenochromatic Crab’s ability to block and send the projectiles back at the boss.

Once defeated, you will get an achievement called ‘Iron Viscount.’ You will also get a precious chest.

You can leave this underwater cave by entering the water current ahead of you.

It will take you out of this area.

You can now freely swim in the lake as it is not boiling anymore.

You will also get an achievement called ‘Core Cooling.’

Luachra the Brilliant

Luachra the Brilliant is a local legend found in the northwestern waters of the Liffey region.

Luachra’s location on the map.
Luachra is a Cherubic Sea Hare and has a whopping 2.9 million HP.

To fight this boss, you need to get the Xenochromatic Jellyfish ability. You can use this ability to throw a ball of explosive by holding and aiming with your skill button. Once the projectile has been released, press the skill button again to make it explode.

Xenochromatic Jellyfish ability.

You damage this boss by attacking it when it is charging.

A clear-cut indicator of Luachra charging is when it glows purple.

It also turns purple when it charges towards you. So, if you time it right, you can damage it a lot.

Once you’ve defeated the boss, you will get an achievement called ‘Luachra the Brilliant.’

Mageblade Corrouge

This boss is in Hauteclaire, an area only available once you’ve completed The Wild Fairy of Erinnyes World quest. The boss is found in an underwater cave southeast of the Weeping Willow of the Lake in the Erinnyes Forest region.

After the completion of the pre-required world quest, you can use the teleport waypoint to directly get here.

Mageblade Corrouge is a new boss, and is a hat jellyfish variant.

This boss has over 2.9 million HP and is one of the easiest to defeat combat-wise.

First, grab the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus ability from one of the nearby octopus’.

Xenochromatic Ball Octopus ability.

Wait for the boss to shoot a projectile at you and hold the ability in its direction to redirect it.

Do not release the skill. Keep holding it until it automatically shoots it back.
Using this ability on the projectile will shoot it back toward the boss, doing massive damage.

Repeat the same until Mageblade Corrouge has been defeated. Eliminating this boss will reward you with an achievement called ‘Mageblade Corrouge.’

Chassanion

For this boss, you must complete Act 2 of the In the Wake of Narcissus world quest, Savior’s Wake. Chassanion is located at the bottom level of the Tower of Ipsissimus.

Location of the Tower of Ipsissimus.
Locked chest on top of the entrance to the bottom level of the tower.

Go to the tower and you will find a locked exquisite chest in the middle surrounded by some guarding Mekas.

Chest surrounded by the Mekas.

Pick up the Xenochromatic Hunter Ray’s ability and kill the Mekas to unlock the chest.

Xenochromatic Hunter’s Ray ability is on top of the exquisite chest.

After defeating the Mekas, open the chest and go to the center of the elevator to enter the tower’s bottom floor. There is a chance that you might have already picked this chest up while the tower was still out of the water.

This tower is submerged underwater after the completion of Act 2 of In The Wake of Narcissus, Savior’s Wake.

Keep going deeper underwater and you will enter the room where you unsealed the platform to enter the Primordial Sea.

Go through the door.
Keep going deeper towards the final room where the boss is.

Chassanion is similar to the Mageblade Corrouge boss. Pick up the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus ability and send the projectile bubbles back at the boss to damage it.

Chassanion fontaine legend.

Once you’ve defeated the boss, you will be rewarded with an achievement called ‘Chassanion.’
