Grab your dice, your rulebook, your swords, your spell books, and your brick separators! The LEGO Group and Wizards of the Coast have revealed the Dungeons & Dragons commemorative Ideas set, marking the tabletop roleplaying game’s 50th anniversary.

The LEGO D&D set, boasting a staggering 3,745 pieces, is set to launch on April 4, with early access available to LEGO Insiders. The Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale is a colossal LEGO kit that features an array of classic Dungeons & Dragons adversaries alongside a variety of minifigure adventurers.

The Red Dragon’s Tale set, conceived by fan designer Lucas Bolt through the fan-submission powered Ideas platform and brought to life through collaboration with LEGO’s design team, stands at an impressive 19 inches (48cm) tall, offering both a visually stunning display piece and a fine roleplay accessory for D&D gaming tables everywhere.

In addition to the titular red dragon, the set includes other iconic D&D monsters, ranging from minifigures like skeletons and myconids to brick-built creatures such as the owl bear, displacer beast, beholder, and gelatinous cube.

Inspired by Bolt’s fan design of a LEGO kit for adventuring in the Forgotten Realms, “Dragon’s Keep: Journey’s End,” the set features a tower, a bridge, a tavern with a removable roof, and essential elements like dungeons and, *gasp*, a dragon! Who would have expected that?!

The LEGO D&D set has 3,745 pieces, including minifigs representing monsters and the heroic adventurers. Large classic creatures like the Beholder and the titular Red Dragon are brick-built figures.

Additionally, LEGO enthusiasts can delve deeper into the world of Dungeons & Dragons with a specially created adventure book, crafted in partnership with Wizards of the Coast and D&D Beyond, providing a fresh and unique gaming encounter.

Just by joining the free LEGO Insiders program, D&D fans can have access to the download of the exclusive adventure. For those who want a physical copy, 2,700 Insider points can be traded for a paperback copy.

The adventure book introduces players to a D&D epic where they start in a tavern, uncover a sorcerer’s villainous scheme, and ultimately face off against the fire-breathing foe. There will also be an actual play show that showcases this special adventure book.

Scheduled to be hosted by TV and voice actor Anjali Bhimani on April 1, the adventure will feature prominent figures from the Dungeons & Dragons creator community, including content creator Ginny Di, Critical Role‘s Luis Carazo, Lucas Bolt, and LEGO designer Jordan Scott.

Based on designs by LEGO and D&D fan Lucas Bolt, can serve as both a display piece and as accessories for D&D campaigns.

Commenting on the inspiration behind his design, Lucas Bolt expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The Dungeons & Dragons theme combined with my love of history, fantasy, and making games inspired me to create a playable layout with different challenges and routes to explore.”

The collaboration between LEGO and Wizards of the Coast aims to celebrate the enduring legacy of the iconic game, offering fans a captivating experience both in building and playing the world’s most popular tabletop RPG (TTRPG).

Priced at $359.99 in the United States and £314.99 in the UK, the set includes six adventurer minifigures – including both male and female alternate heads – each ready to confront the formidable challenges posed by the titular red dragon named “Cinderhowl.”

Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale will be available for purchase on April 4 for all customers, with a special offer for those who order between April 1 and 7 receiving a LEGO mimic dice box to store their dice collection.

With its intricate design, rich storytelling, and collaborative spirit, this LEGO D&D set invites fans to embark on an unforgettable adventure and celebrate half a century of immersive tabletop gaming. Will you be joining the epic LEGO D&D adventure? With the popularity of Baldur’s Gate 3, could a LEGO set with the cast of Astarion, Gale, Shadowheart, Wyll, Lae’zel, Karlach, and the rest be far behind?
