2010's Kick-Ass, which was based on Mark Millar's comic of the same name, was the sort of movie that had no business becoming as big as it did. Not only was it a rare R-rated comic book movie, but it was also based on something relatively obscure. But, for some reason, the film went on to make nearly $100 million at the global box office against a modest $30 million budget, which paved the way for a sequel.

Unfortunately, due to the mixed reviews and lower box office take of the 2013 sequel, a third Kick-Ass film never happened.

While Kick-Ass 3 will probably never happen, the first film's director, Matthew Vaughn, just confirmed that a reboot is coming by 2024 if not 2025.

The unannounced Kick-Ass reboot is "ready to go"

However, this is exactly what's happening with the reboot of Kick-Ass.
