Karl Urban has had an amazing career. Recently, the 51-year-old actor became very popular for his role as Billy Butcher in Prime Video's The Boys. But before that, he starred as several popular characters on our screens, including Bones in the Star Trek reboot film series and Eomer in The Lord of the Rings films.
Now, Urban will add another iconic role to his filmography. According to Giant Freakin Robot, the New Zealand actor will star as a variant of Wolverine in the Marvel film Deadpool 3.
Urban is one of the most popular fan-cast actors to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine after he laid down his Adamantium claws a few years ago. If this news of his casting is true, then Marvel will have fulfilled the wishes of its fans. The move would mirror John Krasinski's casting as Mister Fantastic in last year's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Like Urban, Krasinski had been touted as the perfect actor to play Mister Fantastic for many years. And last year, Marvel decided to honor fans' wishes and gave him the opportunity to embody the character, if only for one film.
Urban is the latest actor we've heard will appear in Deadpool 3. Before the Giant Freakin Robot report, there were reports that Liev Schreiber, who starred as Sabretooth in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, will also feature. And after Ben Affleck was spotted on Deadpool 3's set in June, there were rumors he would reprise his role as Daredevil from the 2003 film of the same name.
