The original Jurassic Park trilogy appeared to be dead in the water, along with the franchise, after 2000's Jurassic Park III posted record lows for the franchise. It wasn't until 2015 when the sci-fi franchise got a new lease on life with the Chris Pratt-led movie that grossed $1.6 billion at the global box office. Since then, a sequel in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was released in 2018, which grossed over $1.3 billion, with a highly anticipated third follow-up featuring returning characters such as Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill expected to pull in roughly the same numbers once it hits theaters in June 2022.
