The American Football world will never be the same again. The National Football League announced on Tuesday morning, December 28, that the legendary NFL Coach, John Madden, had unexpectedly passed away.
The NFL just lost one of its biggest icons
Madden is a legend in sports, in general. He has a long list of lifetime accolades as an NFL coach, including guiding the Oakland Raiders to a championship win in the American Football League. Meanwhile, he guided the same organization to another win at Super Bowl XI in 1976 after the AFL merged with the National Football League. He retired from coaching two years later in 1978 and began a long as well as storied career as a color commentator.
For his efforts and contribution to the game, Madden was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2006, after which he retired from his work as a broadcaster in 2008.
